Our Impact

Friends of Language Academy (FOLA), is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization set up and run by parents. We raise money to provide financial assistance and support for the instructional, educational and recreational needs of students enrolled at The Language Academy.

Each year, we sponsor the Language Academy Jog-a-Thon, which is our school's largest fundraiser of the year. All of the funds we raise go towards supporting our students, teachers, and school facility. â€‹

How we support Language Academy

Over the years, our collective fundraising efforts have made a lasting impact on our school. Below is a list of some of the ways FOLA supported and enriched the Language Academy community.

PLC Rotation Funding
We bring in instructors for art, garden, and dance rotations with students so that our teachers can have time for professional learning.

Music Education

We contract with the Center for World Music to bring music classes to our elementary students.

Teacher/Classroom Grants
We provide thousands of dollars in grants directly to teachers and school administration to support additional classroom materials and resources to enrich their lessons and curriculum.

School Beautification
We provide funding to support the maintenance and beautification of our campus. Projects have included the lunch arbor shade sail and the wall ball court murals.

Social and Community Events for Middle School
We support Middle School special events/programs that are otherwise outside of the school budget, such as 6th grade camp and the 8th grade color throw.

Library Books and Resource Equipment

We purchase books to grow our multilingual library, and replace lost or broken recess equipment each year.

School-wide Assemblies
We collaborate with community organizations to bring in educators, speakers, and performers for fun and educational assembly experiences.

School Marketing Resources
We support the school's efforts to market the Language Academy to the surrounding community, especially during the school choice application window.
